Trading DoM for VolFix
As VolFix’s engineering partner, we designed and shipped a production‑grade Trading DoM (Depth of Market) module. Our mandate: make it fast, configurable, and safe for professional traders — and seamlessly fit it into the VolFix ecosystem.
What we delivered
- End‑to‑end design & build of the price ladder and order‑entry flows (one‑click & hotkey, drag‑to‑modify, cancel/replace).
- Bracket orders (SL/TP/TS) and OCO logic integrated with the platform’s risk controls and confirmations for destructive actions.
- Column architecture with 10+ metrics (Today, Delta/Δ%, Trades, Flow Buy/Sell, Last Trade, DoM Delta, Last Day/Week/Month, Labels).
- Safety UX: Lock Trade, Auto Center, clear states for working/filled/canceled.
- Integration with the VolFix trading core, statistics (Statement), and supported execution adapters.
- Event‑driven UI and optimized rendering to stay responsive during bursty tick streams.
As VolFix’s engineering contractor, we owned the Trading DoM initiative end‑to‑end — from discovery to production. We started with a technical and UX audit of the trading core, gateways and risk flows, then turned real trader feedback into measurable acceptance criteria around speed, clarity and safety.
We prototyped the price ladder and order‑entry micro‑interactions, validated them with power users, and only then moved to build. On the engineering side, we implemented an event‑driven client, execution adapters aligned with the VolFix core, and a presets engine that keeps fast actions predictable.
Quality was treated as a first‑class concern: a replay harness for historical tick streams, latency/FPS dashboards, contract tests for adapters, and smoke/e2e suites for hot paths (place/modify/cancel).
Rollout happened safely via feature flags and canary builds, with telemetry on p95 input time and error rates. The result is a production‑grade module that fits the platform, reduces mis‑clicks, and shortens time‑to‑trade.
We implemented the configuration & presets engine behind the Trading DoM: one place to control columns, hotkeys, order presets, delta types, contract specs, risk rules, and window behavior — without breaking the trading flow.
